What started out as a home-based garage operation turned into a full-time business. I founded Hemingway Woodshop in 2018 after years of honing my skills in the furniture building industry. I was raised on a farm and have been working with my hands for most of my life. I discovered my love for working with wood when I began building skateboards out of my one bedroom apartment, and it only grew from there. Years later and with a few more tools in my belt, I have turned my passion and craft into a career.
I’ve had the amazing opportunity to build with some of the most fantastic and stunning wood pieces the world has to offer, and I’m always looking forward to my next project. I took “if you love what you do” to heart and have been running with that motto ever since!
My first introduction to carpentry began with installing flooring and that is where I discovered my passion for working with lumber. I’ve always appreciated the unique properties that each and every slab has to offer, and whether it was Black Walnut or American Elm, I knew I had to make a career working with wood.
It was time to take my craft to the next level, and when my long-time friend invited me to build wooden furniture with him, I didn’t think twice. I love that every day I get to be a part of bringing family, friends, and communities closer together when they sit around one of my beautiful tables, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

We ordered a custom desk and shelving unit. It's made with live edge black walnut and industrial piping. We couldn’t be happier with their outstanding piece! They are very easy to work with. They are good at outputting your idea into something better and more practical. They are very professional. We strongly recommend them if you are interested in making custom furniture and/or wooden decors. You‘ll be satisfied for sure! We'd definitely ask them again if we have another chance.
Ben made us a kitchen table that is so fantastic I can’t even put it into words. His craftsman’s ship is so beautiful and we couldn’t be happier!
Ben and Nate did an absolutely amazing job on our custom made black walnut and white oak bar! We also had some shelving, tv mantle and a wall-mounted sofa table made.
